The Bright Sky domestic abuse mobile app, widget and website has now surpassed 1 million users. Bright Sky gives support and offers advice to anyone concerned about domestic abuse.
Bright Sky was first launched in 2018, in partnership with Hestia, a UK crisis support charity, and Hope After Harm. It is now live in 13 countries across Europe, Africa, North America, and Oceania.
From physical abuse to controlling and coercive behaviour, abusive relationships take many forms. Domestic abuse affects millions of people around the world.
Survivors may not recognise the signs of domestic abuse. Or they may not know where they can get help. Using mobile technology, Vodafone Foundation wanted to give everyone easier access to specialist support.
Leanne Wood, Chief HR Officer at Vodafone Group said: “One in three women experience domestic abuse globally. With a million users in 13 countries, the Bright Sky platform continues to help people find a safe pathway to information and essential services.”
Bright Sky is free and easy to use. It gives domestic abuse survivors advice on spotting the signs and how to respond. And it can help find a safe route to support.
Anyone experiencing domestic abuse can use Bright Sky. This includes people worried about a friend, family member, or someone they know. It also offers information on issues like online safety, stalking and harassment.
Bright Sky users can answer a questionnaire to help identify types of abuse in a relationship. It uses mobile phone geolocation to help users find the nearest support services.
Bright Sky is available online and on iOS or Android mobile platforms.
