Vodafone has introduced Australia’s widely available mobile plans with unlimited data, signalling an end to excess data charges and giving relief to data hungry Australians.
Available from tomorrow at three monthly price points – $60, $80 and $100 – Vodafone’s Unlimited Plans include unlimited standard national talk and text along with 40GB to 120GB of data at Vodafone’s normal network speeds, followed by unlimited data to use in Australia at speeds of up to 1.5Mbps.
Vodafone changed the game last year by introducing no lock-in Red plans allowing people to choose a handset that suits them best over a 12, 24 or 36 month payment term.
This next step in Vodafone’s evolution comes as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to challenge the status quo and champion for better value, more flexibility and transparency for Australians.
Ben McIntosh, Vodafone’s Consumer Business Unit Director said that the new plans give people another option to consider when choosing a service tailored to personal data usage and streaming habits.
“The explosion of mobile streaming, across not only entertainment but education and social networking, means that what one person needs from their mobile service is vastly different to the next,” he said.
“Our Unlimited Plans give people more choice and the peace of mind that they won’t be left without data or stung with extra costs once their data limits are up.”
The Unlimited Plans each come with a generous data allowance at Vodafone’s normal network speeds. Once the data allowance is used, customers continue to enjoy data at speeds of up to 1.5Mbps with no limit as to how much data can be used within Australia until the beginning of the next monthly billing cycle.
“Research shows that over half of the average time spent online is via a mobile device, which is why we’ve made a conscious effort to include generous data inclusions to accommodate for streaming content or downloading files,” McIntosh added.
“Our $80 Unlimited Plan comes with 70GB data at our normal network speeds which is enough to stream every episode of Stranger things ever made, every single month on Netflix.”
“We’re excited to once again shake up the market with Australia’s first widely available unlimited data plans and drive real change for customers that are fed up with paying too much.”
