As part of this offer, the Telco is offering double data on all its standard data packs. The double data benefit will be applicable at night hrs i.e. midnight to 7AM.
With rollout of the offer, Videocon Telecom is forecasting 50% growth in data consumption in next 6 months. The telco registered an impressive 126% growth in data consumption last year, which, as per the Nokia MBit index 2015, was almost 3 times the industry 2G data growth of 41%.
Videocon Telecom, the versatile, friendly and dynamic telecom brand of the $10 billion worth Videocon Group came up with yet another industry first. The telco announced a unique offer of double data benefit for its subscribers. Under the offer, the telco’s customers will get double data on all standard data packs by default.
The double data benefit will be applicable at night hrs (ie midnight to 7AM), on all standard data packs starting at price point of Rs 13, and going upto Rs 251, offering bundled data of 120 MB to 3GB respectively.
As per the telco, majority of their data users comprises of youth segment, who use mobile data irrespective of time of the day. Approx 1/5th (20%) of data usage happens btw midnight to 7AM, and is growing on a monthly basis. Further, approx 17% of data users consume more than 50% of their data during night hours. The network utilisation is low at night hrs and hence customers will enjoy good data download speeds, that too free of cost.
Videocon Telecom registered a surge in its data consumption after upgrading its Network to 2.75G EDGE in September last year. The telco reported an impressive 126% growth in data consumption last year, which, as per the Nokia MBit index 2015, was almost 3 times the industry 2G data growth of 41% and 2 times the industry overall data growth of 74%.
The telco feels that the Double data initiative would further increase its overall data consumption by over 50% and data revenue by approx 25% in next 6 months. The growth will be driven by organic subscriber base growth, increase in data penetration by approx 6%; and data consumption per user per month, which the telco expects to go up by 20% to 230 MB. The realization per GB for data will however drop by approx 20% owing to the double data offer and other segmented offers.

Interestingly, approx 20% of total data consumption happens at night hours and growing, with over 17% data users consuming 50% of their data at night. The network utilisation at night hrs is low and hence customers will enjoy good data speed, that too free of cost.
Last year we grew our data business by 126%, which is almost double the pace of the industry data growth at 74%.This initiative along with other micromarketing initiatives on data will for sure help us surpass our growth of last year. Mr Bali added
