The Verizon Foundation is stepping up to support communities devastated by the Southern California wildfires and windstorms with a total of $1 million in donations. The contributions are intended to provide much-needed relief and resources to support firefighters and the community.
Donations include $500,000 to the American Red Cross and $500,000 to the Los Angeles Fire Department ( LAFD ) Foundation. The American Red Cross donation will support emergency relief efforts in the Los Angeles area.
Supporting California Wildfire Relief Efforts
The Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation's donation will help cover the costs of essential tools and safety equipment for LAFD firefighters, including hydration packs, wildland tools and emergency fire shelters.
"The wildfires and windstorms have been absolutely devastating, and the Verizon Foundation is immediately stepping up its efforts to ensure support reaches those who urgently need it most," said Donna Epps, Chief Responsible Business Officer, Verizon. "The Verizon Foundation is supporting the American Red Cross and the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation as they provide relief to communities to contain the fire and keep people safe."
