Turkcell and Nokia have signed an agreement to enable new developer-created use cases for consumer, enterprise, and industrial customers in Turkey and to open a new pathway for extracting value from the operator’s network assets.

Through Nokia’s Network as code platform with developer portal, developers will utilize software code and Turkcell network capabilities, using Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and Software Development Kits (SDK), in order to build new applications.

The Network as Code platform with developer portal was created using technical standards produced through industry initiatives such as the GSMA Open Gateway initiative and the Linux Foundation CAMARA project; helping to bring a unified appreciation and approach to more network openness.

Elif Yenihan Kaya, Network Capabilities Director at Turkcell, said: “5G-era networks are rich in features that can deliver fundamentally new capabilities to end-users, such as improving network quality on demand. We are excited to take this step with Nokia to collaborate and enable developers with the network capabilities they need to create new applications for their customers.”

Shkumbin Hamiti, Head of Network Monetization Platform, Cloud and Network Services at Nokia said: “This partnership enables Turkcell and Nokia to create a larger ecosystem with developers for driving fresh opportunities with Turkcell’s network assets. Nokia’s Network as Code platform with developer portal makes network programmability monetizable and provides CSPs with new enterprise and consumer value creation opportunities.”
