In 2024, millions of Australians relied on Optus to stay connected, stream, share, and create. With over 1 billion GBs of mobile data used, Optus continued to deliver fast speeds, great coverage, and offered innovative ways to give back to communities across Australia.

Customers used an incredible 1 billion GBs of mobile data, enough to stream every episode of Squid Game Season 1 and the highly anticipated Season 2 over 37 million times. And if that’s not enough action, it’s also the equivalent of streaming over 9 million Premier League matches on Optus Sport. That’s a whole lot of drama, goals scored and edge-of-your-seat action in HD throughout 2024.
-
Optus upgraded over 600 sites across Australia to 5G, bringing fast speeds and greater 5G coverage to communities across the country, including regional areas like Maitland, Tweed Heads and Ballarat.
-
Beyond better connectivity, Optus focused on giving back. 6 million GBs of data was donated by customers this year through Optus’ Donate Your Data™ Program. Overall, the programs has helped over 50,000 Australians in need stay connected to essential services, education, and loved ones.
-
New South Wales led the way with 2 million GB donated, followed by Victoria (1.6 million GB) and Queensland (1.3 million GB).
-
Optus also took action to keep customers safe from scams, blocking a total of 165 million scam calls and SMS messages. As well as driving awareness of trending scams through Optus ScamWise to help protect Australians from fraudulent activity and give them greater peace of mind.

In October, Optus was recognised by Opensignal as its most awarded mobile network in Australia[3], including having the fastest 5G mobile network for average download speeds nationally for the seventh time running.
Optus also launched its 7-day free Network Trial in July, offering Australians a risk-free way to experience the strength and coverage of the Optus network. Thousands of Australians have taken part so far, discovering the power and speed of Optus' award-winning mobile network at no cost and with no commitments.
