Singtel and TIS Inc (TIS), a Japanese systems integration company, are partnering for offering cyber security services in Japan to help businesses build cyber resilience and protect critical infrastructure.
Singtel’s subsidiary Trustwave, one of the fastest-growing global managed security services providers, and TIS will collaborate to provide TIS Managed Security Services powered by Trustwave through a new Security Operation Centre (SOC) which Trustwave will establish in Tokyo. Trustwave’s first SOC in Japan will enhance its ability to offer TIS’ customers round-the-clock monitoring of their networks and rapid response to cyber attacks.
The centre will connect to Trustwave’s global network of eight SOCs and will be backed by security experts located around the world, offering Japanese businesses local visibility combined with global threat awareness and protection.
Bill Chang, Chief Executive Officer, Group Enterprise at Singtel said, “Our partnership with TIS strengthens our presence in the region as we work together to meet Japan’s growing need for robust cyber security defences. Singtel has been active in providing ICT services in Japan and with Trustwave’s managed security services, we are now able to provide a comprehensive suite of managed network, ICT and cyber security services for our Japanese clients and multinational corporations in Japan.”
Masayuki Inaba, Executive Vice President at TIS said, “Cyber threats are a critical business risk which many companies in Japan are not equipped to deal with. Through this strategic alliance, we have access to world-class cyber security solutions to help enhance their cyber security preparedness. Trustwave’s Managed Security Services will augment our infocomm technology consultancy and systems integration capabilities to protect Japanese companies against cyber crime and potential loss of revenue. By securing their data and sensitive information, we can help companies to preserve their customers’ and associates trust.”
Robert J. McCullen, Chief Executive Officer and President at Trustwave said, “Increasingly businesses are turning to managed security services to address advanced information security threats while alleviating the pressures created by resource constraints, skills shortages, compliance requirements and the rapid adoption of new technologies. TIS Managed Security Services will be a strong offering in the Japanese market, backed by the global capabilities and threat intelligence from Trustwave.”
The launch of the TIS Managed Security Services in Japan is timely given that the cyber security market in the country is expected to grow from over US$4 billion in 2013 to more than $10 billion in 2019, according to Micro Market Monitor.
IDC Research Manager Cathy Huang, with IDC’s Asia/Pacific Services and Cloud Research Group, said “Increasingly businesses, seeking to gain a better posture against attackers, are turning to managed security services providers to augment or outsource their cyber security needs. With Trustwave, TIS will bring much-needed cyber security to Japan and enhance organisations’ security posture while enabling them to focus more on their business priorities and core competencies. Trustwave services and the threat intelligence from its global network of SOCs, combined with TIS’s local expertise and brand presence, will be a powerful combination in the fight against cybercrime.”
