Remitting money back home just got easier and more convenient with the launch of Singtel Dash Remit on Singtel’s hi!App. The latest feature allows Singtel prepaid customers to manage their prepaid account and remit all in one app.

Remittance is an essential financial service to the migrant community who makes up 70% of Singtel’s prepaid customers, and over half a million of them are active hi!App users. Most come from countries such as Malaysia, India, China, the Philippines, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Myanmar.

With Dash Remit offering remittance to all seven countries, they can enjoy the convenience of transferring money to their families back home at their fingertips through the hi!App.

Gan Siok Hoon, Managing Director of Consumer Sales & Mobile Marketing said, “Our goal is to provide our prepaid customers with a holistic way to stay connected to their families back home. We have brought the most popular features – top-up and remittance – under a single app so customers can carry out transactions quickly and seamlessly. Those who were previously not on our Dash app can now enjoy our competitive remittance rates without having to install another app. Beyond enhancing services available to our migrant community on the hi!App, we also recognise their valuable contributions to Singapore and have organised regular engagement activities to boost their spirits since the onset of the pandemic.”

“It is important for our migrant workers and foreign domestic workers to stay safe and healthy as the pandemic stretches on. Many of them are sole breadwinners of their families and remittance is an essential service for them. With the activation of the mobile remittance feature on this popular prepaid app, Singtel has helped to provide a safe and easily accessible alternative since most are prepaid mobile users,” added Bernard Menon, Executive Director of the Migrant Workers’ Centre (MWC).

Apart from managing their prepaid accounts and remittance, customers can purchase data plans, entertainment and social packages. They are also able to view offers customised to their needs and redeem rewards through the hi!App.

Registration for Dash Remit is free through the hi!App. Customers will receive 1GB of free mobile data for their first successful remittance with hi!App, with remittance fees starting from as low as S$2. They can earn 50 hi!Rewards coins for every subsequent transaction, which can be exchanged for attractive rewards such as free talktime packages and discount e-vouchers at participating retail outlets. With every successful remittance, customers are also entitled to a free 30-day insurance by Income with up to S$5,000 cash payout.

Construction worker Arfan Ahmed Faruk said, “It has been challenging for me to remit money to my family regularly due to the movement restrictions. I am a regular user of the hi!App for my prepaid mobile needs, so with the new Singtel Dash Remit feature, I can now send money back home easily and also enjoy more hi!Rewards at the same time.”

Singtel has been supporting migrant and foreign domestic workers throughout the pandemic by partnering MWC and Centre for Domestic Employees to engage with them and lift their spirits. To celebrate Deepavali, a hybrid event featuring live performances from popular Indian and Bangladeshi artistes was organised on 7 November, bringing the festival of lights closer to the community.

The Workplace Safety and Health Council also joined the event to spread the message of workplace well-being and tips on worksite safety and emotional wellness. Over 70,000 migrant workers joined the live event, some attended in person from a major dormitory in Singapore and others through the livestream on MWC's Facebook page. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Singtel has given out more than 100,000 care packs comprising essential items to migrant workers living in various dormitories.
