Quectel Picks Qualcomm to Bring Smart Connectivity to Hongqi E-HS9 Vehicles

Quectel Wireless Solutions announced that the company is working with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. to support smart connectivity in Hongqi E-HS9 vehicles, which are now equipped with the Quectel AG15 module integrated into the solution Qualcomm® 9150 Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) chipset.

The new Hongqi E-HS9, a full-size, electric and intelligent sport utility vehicle (SUV), is the first production vehicle on the market to feature LTE-V2X technology and achieve 100% validation of assistance warnings to driving in multiple LTE-V2X communication scenarios.

Additionally, the Hongqi E-HS9, recently unveiled by FAW Group for sale in China and Europe, uses dead reckoning and high precision fusion positioning technologies, supported by Quectel's AG35 module, LTE automotive class, so that the vehicle can achieve high precision positioning less than one meter. This will improve the safety and driving experience of connected vehicles and improve traffic efficiency.

Also known as C-V2X across the world, LTE-V2X is a comprehensive solution for V2X communications. It is designed to improve vehicle safety, traffic efficiency and automated driving through high-performance real-time direct communication between vehicles and road infrastructure.

To assess its smart connectivity capabilities, the Hongqi E-HS9 was tested in L3 Autonomous Driving Mode on several V2X use cases, including: Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Blind Spot Warning / Shift Alert Lane (BSW / LCW) and Intersection Collision Warning (ICW). The 100% success rate validated the robustness of the C-V2X technology.

Production of Hongqi's E-HS9 vehicles marks an important milestone in the global commercial use of the C-V2X, as it allows the technology to commercialize in a common model being deployed in multiple regions. Quectel supports automotive manufacturers in their deployments of new vehicles equipped with C-V2X by integrating its C-V2X modules into the next generation of vehicles. Other vehicles are being developed using this technology, demonstrating that the C-V2X is the automotive standard for smart connectivity.
