Ethernity Networks, an enabler in data processing technology for networking appliances, has announced a significant upgrade to its popular UEP2025 platform.
The enhanced UEP2025 now offers both 10 Gigabit per second (XGS-PON) and Gigabit Passive Optical Networking (GPON) optical line termination (OLT) capabilities, providing operators with unmatched flexibility in deploying fiber-based access networks. This versatility empowers them to deliver high-bandwidth services to residential and business subscribers alike, in greenfield and brownfield areas while reducing reliance on legacy infrastructure.
These new PON capabilities are added to further enhance the unmatched versatility of the UEP2025. It can function as a Carrier Ethernet Switch or Router with optional Link Bonding or a full-featured disaggregated remote OLT. This flexibility empowers Ethernity customers to address diverse network edge applications with a single platform.
Originally designed for Active Ethernet Access, the UEP2025 leverages Ethernity's in-house technology for a wide range of use cases. It seamlessly integrates innovative features for Carrier Ethernet access switching/routing, fixed wireless access, and wireless backhaul. With the addition of PON technology, the UEP2025 extends its reach to Passive Optical Networks, supporting Fiber to the Premises (FTTP) deployments.
The UEP2025 directly addresses several critical trends driving the network edge:
Unrelenting Bandwidth Demand: The ever-increasing popularity of cloud applications, video collaboration platforms, and artificial intelligence is straining bandwidth capacity. Fiber optic networks, with their high capacity and low latency, are becoming the cornerstone of future-proof networks.
Bridging the Digital Divide: Government initiatives like the US Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) program are accelerating fiber optic network deployment in underserved areas. The UEP2025 positions operators to capitalize on this growth opportunity.
Disaggregated Open Networking: Ethernity champions disaggregation down to the chip level. The UEP2025's programmable networking engine allows Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to create unique products using best-in-class functionalities from various vendors, promoting flexibility and potentially lower costs.
“The UEP2025 empowers our customers to streamline new use case validation, integration, and deployment,” said Ilan Tevet, VP Marketing and Business Development of Ethernity Networks. “We deliver not only the necessary functionalities but also a solution that saves them time and money, accelerating their time to revenue.”
