PLDT, Smart Dynamic Learning Program is promoting inclusive education amid classroom woes

The creator of the Central Visayan Institute Foundation Dynamic Learning Program (CVIF DLP), Dr. Christopher Bernido, sees the crisis-resilient strategy helping advance inclusive quality education amid classroom shortages in the country.

“The CVIF DLP addresses different learning needs – from challenged learners to advanced learners. The beauty of the program is that students can learn even in the comfort of their homes,” said Dr. Bernido, a Ramon Magsaysay awardee, who developed CVIF DLP together with his wife and fellow Magsaysay awardee, the late Dr. Maria Victoria Bernido.PLDT, Smart Dynamic Learning Program promotes inclusive education

Tucked under PLDT and Smart’s flagship education program – School-in-a-Bag (SIAB) – the CVIF DLP is a module-based teaching instruction that simplifies complex topics into one-page activity sheets called the CVIF DLP Learning Activity Sheets. The pandemic-tested teaching pedagogy allows students to learn at their own pace with minimal teacher intervention.

Meanwhile, the School-in-a-Bag is a portable digital classroom that is often deployed to geographically isolated, disadvantaged and conflict-affected areas. Each package contains a laptop and 10 tablets pre-loaded with DepEd curriculum-based learning materials, mobile Wi-Fi, and expandable storage devices. The initiative also includes teacher training and year-long monitoring support for better implementation.

“SIAB together with CVIF DLP complements the Department of Education’s 'MATATAG' curriculum. The program helps address learning gaps especially among early grade students. It ensures no learner is left behind even in times of crisis,” said Stephanie Orlino, AVP and Head of Stakeholder Management at PLDT and Smart.

The School-in-a-Bag highlights PLDT, Smart and PSF’s commitment to inclusive quality education through Information and Communications Technology, content, pedagogy, and capacity building to ensure that there is #NoLearnerLeftBehind. This initiative is also aligned with the UNSDG #4: Quality Education.
