Outokumpu Corporation and Elisa Corporation have signed an agreement on the provision of next-generation global data and network solutions. The agreement covers a next-generation international software-driven data network solution (SD-WAN) for Outokumpu.
In 2021, Elisa also provided Outokumpu with a firewall and other hardware as well as technical consultation. Through this expanded collaboration, Elisa is now a strategic IT partner for Outokumpu.
Outokumpu’s goal with this expanded partnership is to introduce a new generation of online services, which will simplify the management of Outokumpu’s online solutions and focus more strongly on Finland than before, and will also improve the company's information security.
Outokumpu selected Elisa as its strategic partner because Elisa is capable of providing a reliable solution for global network monitoring.
“Outokumpu is a global player with operations in almost 30 countries. Telecoms plays a critical 24/7 role in our business in our production facilities, in our underground mine, and also in office environments. That’s why it’s extremely important that we can manage the services in these environments reliably and together with a skilled partner. We want to be a pioneer in controlling our data networks, and Elisa has the best records as a reliable operator for this task, as well as exceptional automation expertise”, comments Risto Mikola, Vice President, IT Platform at Outokumpu Corporation.
“Information networks are playing an increasingly core role in business as society and companies go digital and start utilising AI. Around 24 per cent of Finnish companies have invested in software-driven networks, so it’s only the pioneers that are using these next-generation data networks. The utilisation of automation and AI are productive opportunities that further emphasise the need for a reliable IT partner. We know Outokumpu’s business well, and we can ensure the functionality of Outokumpu’s international services in the best way possible”, says Jorma Niemelä, VP of the Connectivity at Elisa’s corporate business.
