Vodafone Business has signed a three-year agreement to implement a global Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) for Optos, the Scottish retinal imaging technology company whose innovations help protect the sight of millions worldwide. The SD-WAN solution will replace a patchwork of legacy systems, giving Optos a consolidated, highly reliable network to support its continued global growth.
Optos, the Scottish retinal imaging pioneer, develops world-leading technology that helps clinicians detect eye disease early and prevent sight loss for thousands of patients globally.
As the company expands internationally, Optos requires resilient, consistent connectivity to keep mission-critical teams aligned. Vodafone Business SD-WAN now provides Optos with a unified, simplified global network that is easier to manage and scale.
Powered by Vodafone Business SD-WAN, Optos now benefits from real-time visibility and centralised control across its entire network estate. This allows IT teams to optimise performance between sites worldwide while reducing complexity by managing everything through one unified platform.

With stable, secure and resilient connectivity now in place, Optos can streamline communication between departments, avoid costly downtime, and focus investment on research, innovation and scaling the business.
Adam Shaw, Head of IT at Optos, said: 'Working with Vodafone Business has been transformative for Optos. Their SD-WAN solution gives us the secure, resilient connectivity we need to link our global sites and allows us to grow without constantly purchasing new technology ' it grows with us. This collaboration ensures we can provide clinicians with the tools they need to continue their work to help protect vision for millions worldwide.'
The deployment consolidates Optos' previously fragmented network into a single SD-WAN platform, giving them real-time visibility, centralised control and resilient global connectivity as they scale internationally.
