As part of ongoing efforts to protect customers, Ooredoo is proactively tackling fraud and scams through its social media channels.

Focused on Phishing, a cybercrime attack that involves soliciting and stealing personal and banking information over the phone, hoax SMS, malicious software, scam phone calls and phony online groups masquerading as Ooredoo Oman, Ooredoo’s Fraud Awareness Campaign aims to safeguard customers against all forms of data and financial theft.

Ooredoo is reminding people to be wary of unsolicited or unknown phone calls and SMS, never to share personal information such as their bank card PIN number or mobile banking password, never to transfer money to another account on their request, and don’t assume they are genuine because they have personal information, because they may have obtained it from social media or other sources.

It is also very important that customers do not click on URLs contained within these unsolicited SMS, do not reply and do not call the numbers. Ooredoo will never ask for your personal information over the phone and will not call you regarding a service or technical matter unless you initiate the contact first.

If you are contacted, it is recommended that customers hang up and contact Ooredoo using an official means of communication. Customers are encouraged to delete suspicious SMS and block unknown and unwanted calls and to report bogus calls to the authorities immediately.
