JMA Wireless, a global provider of wireless communications solutions, is enabling robust cellular coverage and capacity at 10 Grenelle, a premier office complex comprised of over 30,000 m2 located in the heart of Paris, France.
The multi-carrier, multi-band TEKO DAS (distributed antenna system) platform from JMA Wireless has been deployed by system integrator, INEO Tertiaire. This powerful solution enables mobile communications in the two buildings housing offices, an auditorium, several restaurants, parking, a fitness center and several green spaces.
The TEKO DAS has proven repeatedly that it can provide powerful wireless communications under even the most challenging conditions. Environmentally sustainable venues, such as 10 Grenelle with its triple environmental certification - HQE (High Quality Environmental), BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), present challenges to wireless signals entering and leaving buildings, which leads to poor cellular connectivity. However, with the TEKO DAS, 10 Grenelle enables robust in-building cellular coverage and capacity for the following mobile operators: Orange, Bouygues Telecom and SFR. And, this powerful platform supports the 1800, 2100 and 2600 bands.
“Environmentally friendly buildings along with the increase in the number of mobile phone calls originating inside have made it much more challenging to provide in-building cellular connectivity,” stated Andrea Casini, Senior Vice President of International Business at JMA Wireless. “Since the newspapers, Les Échos and Le Parisien, have offices at 10 Grenelle it is particularly critical that the TEKO DAS ensure powerful in-building coverage for its reporters. Dead zones are just not an option.”
The revamped 10 Grenelle is among the seven percent of all Paris buildings that have earned the HQE, BREEAM and LEED environmental certifications.
The TEKO DAS supports two sectors with six very high-power remote units (RUs) for wireless coverage throughout the two buildings and one low power RU for the parking area. This cost-efficient solution enables connectivity between the RUs and the master unit (MU) with just a single optical fiber per remote unit, resulting in installation savings of at least 50 percent less than competitive solutions. Furthermore, 10 Grenelle also utilized design services from JMA Wireless; therefore, the iBwave simulation tool was used to ensure smarter planning, design and deployment of the TEKO DAS.
