Chilimobil and Telia have entered into an exciting and long-term partnership that will help strengthen competition in the Norwegian mobile market within Europe. The partnership will help Chilimobil continue to grow while allowing their customers to continue surfing on Norway's leading and first national 5G network.
"We are very pleased with this new partnership, and look forward to Chilimobil's customers continuing to surf on our leading 5G network in the years to come," says CEO Stein-Erik Vellan of Telia Norway. – "Chilimobil has been a good network rental customer of Telia for many years and we have been impressed by their journey in the Norwegian mobile market. The new partnership will help strengthen Chilimobil's competitiveness even more. It will be good for all Norwegian mobile customers."
As part of the new partnership, Telia will acquire 45 percent of the shares in Chilimobil.
Chilimobil is gearing up for further growth
Chilimobil is known as the first mobile company in Norway to introduce "free data" and won the award for Norway's most satisfied mobile customers last fall. The new partnership accelerates Chilimobil's plans to expand its product range.
"This agreement secures our long-term goal. The partnership will strengthen our competitiveness and position as a challenger in the mobile market – and not least the fight for more and cheaper mobile data," says Chilimobil CEO and founder, Lars Ryen Mill. – "The collaboration will create a solid platform for further growth and development. For our customers, this means in practice access to more innovative products and services, while maintaining our core values of unlimited data and high service quality. Chilimobil will always be the challenger that puts customers first", says Ryen Mill.
The company is already announcing that they will launch completely new broadband services over the mobile network before the summer.
"The broadband initiative has been on the drawing board for a long time and we now see that the market is ripe for new, innovative solutions. This is a natural step in our development," continues Lars Ryen Mill.
At the same time, Chilimobil promises to continue to prioritize its core area: customers who use a lot of data.
"Our goal is to remove the "data anxiety" among Norwegian mobile customers. It is both old-fashioned and uniquely Norwegian to have to go around with such worries," concludes the Chilimobil manager.
Telia has Norway's leading mobile network
At the end of last year, it was announced that Telia Norge became the first in the country with a national 5G network that covers nearly 99 percent of the population.
"We made a promise in 2019 to all our customers and society that we would build the first national 5G network in Norway. That promise has been fulfilled, and we are proud that we were recently named Norway's leading mobile network . This network will continue to benefit all of Chilimobil's customers in the years to come," concludes Vellan.
