Leading Asian satellite operator Thaicom Plc will bring its latest satellite solutions to CommunicAsia 2018 as it looks to address challenges in the maritime and broadcast industries and transform businesses for the digital future.
Designed to meet rising data demands for ship and offshore operators, the Thaicom Nava™ Maritime Service Platform provides reliable, secure and high-speed connectivity to crew and passengers, improving safety and operation efficiency for increased competitiveness.
Thaicom will also address the latest broadcast trends with its Hybrid Video Distribution Platform, which reduces distribution costs for broadcasters and enables them to expand their business into new digital markets. The platform addresses viewers’ rising expectations seamlessly via satellite and over-the-top (OTT) distribution, promising seamless delivery of content to any screen and device, in the highest quality.
“Nava™ and our Hybrid Video Distribution Platform address two of the most relevant areas within the satellite industry and we are proud to leverage more than 26 years of experience to bring these solutions to market,” said Patompob (Nile) Suwansiri, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Thaicom. “The new offerings are part of our continued shift as we look to address changing customers’ expectations and be at the leading edge of the digital revolution by helping to solve the challenges the markets we serve are experiencing.”
As the first satellite operator to launch a High Throughput Satellite (HTS), Thaicom will also reveal its vision for the future of the satellite industry when Suwansiri takes part in a conference panel titled “LEOs, MEOS, GEOs… and Everything In Between” on Tuesday, June 26 at 3.50pm SGT. Here, Suwansiri will outline how far the satellite industry has come since the launch of IPSTAR in 2005, identifying the strengths and weaknesses of LEOs, MEOs and GEOs.
“As we stand at the edge of the next wave of satellite network applications – the 5G ecosystem – consumers are beginning to incorporate many new data-intensive applications into their daily lives,” said Suwansiri. “As pioneers in HTS, with a strong presence in the Asia Pacific region, we are well equipped to evaluate the need for a change in satellite operators’ focus. What is needed is more robust networks than ever before.”
CommunicAsia 2018 will take place at Marina Bay Sands, in Singapore, from Tuesday, June 26 to Thursday, June 28. Thaicom will exhibit at booth 1P2-07, on Level 1.
