Colt Technology Services and Equinix, Inc. have announced the extension of their strong partnership, launching a new Colt point of presence (PoP) in Equinix’s BX1 data centre in Bordeaux, with Colt using a diverse high fibre count to connect to termination points through Europe and beyond.
Bordeaux is establishing itself as a new digital hub, home to a growing business community of global and local companies that require low latency, increased bandwidth and strong connectivity to network, content and cloud services providers, to establish and grow their businesses.
Through this new presence, enterprise customers will benefit directly from Colt’s best-in-class, cloud-optimised intelligent network, the Colt IQ Network, which connects to Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs) across Europe, including Paris, Marseille and Madrid.
BX1 also provides a landing hub for the AMITIE submarine cable, a new European gateway for data traffic between the United States and Europe, linking Massachusetts (US), Le Porge (France), and Bude (United Kingdom). This latest PoP enables the picking up and handing off of that data traffic.
In addition, enterprise customers will benefit from the Colt IQ Network’s reach, which connects to over 1,000 key data centres and more than 29,000 buildings worldwide, and Colt’s long-distance network (LDN), connecting Europe to key hubs in Asia.
Colt and Equinix first announced their collaboration in 2017. Today, the organisations are evolving their offerings to ensure they are best placed to assist enterprises with their ongoing and rapid digital transformations.
Mark Hollman, VP Partner Development and Success of Colt Technology Services, said: “Building on our already strong relationship with Equinix, this latest point of presence in Bordeaux allows us to support even more cloud transformations and reflects our commitment to investing so that we can continue to meet our customers’ needs for enhanced connectivity. As well as benefiting from access to our Colt IQ Network, which connects to Metropolitan Area Networks across Europe, Equinix’s BX1 facility also provides a landing hub for the new AMITIE submarine cable linking the US, France, and the UK, which opens up a range of possibilities for customers.”
Equinix’s Vice President for Channel in EMEA, Orla Ni Chorcora, said: “We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Colt to help businesses accelerate innovation by harnessing the full potential of cloud. With this new point of presence in Bordeaux, customers will benefit from secure and high-bandwidth connectivity to our global digital business ecosystem, with access to an expanded data network and cloud portfolio. This further supports the growth of the local digital economy and digital transformation strategies.”
