Smart City Expo Atlanta, in partnership with Fira de Barcelona, has announced its debut from September 11-13, 2019 at the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC).

SCATL is the first, and only, U.S. edition of Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC), the world's leading conference and expo on smart cities and smart urban solutions.

The event will bring together catalytic leaders from government, corporations, nonprofits and entrepreneurial sectors to redefine what it means to be a "smart city." They will discuss how social and economic mobility, equitable infrastructure, and human capital are being prioritized in the new "smart city," one defined by digital transformation, artificial intelligence, early-stage investments, and other civic innovations and solutions.

"I am thrilled to welcome Fira de Barcelona to host the first U.S.-based Smart City Expo in Atlanta," said Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, City of Atlanta. "The focus on cutting-edge technologies, smart city innovation, and equity and inclusion directly align with our One Atlanta vision of affordability, resiliency, and fairness. We look forward to hosting cross-sector leaders from around the globe to this internationally-recognized summit."

"Atlanta is on an accelerated path to becoming a model for Smart Cities across the country. As cities prepare for a paradigm shift, we need to redefine how they operate as complex ecosystems and reshape them to really become "smart" environments where technology, inclusion and sustainability develop livable metropolises that offer their inhabitants the best possible place to live, work and thrive," said Ricard Zapatero, International Business Director, Fira de Barcelona.

"Building on our work to promote the region as a world-class destination for events, we are pleased that Metro Atlanta was selected to host Fira de Barcelona's inaugural Smart Cities Conference in the U.S.," said Hala Moddelmog, President and CEO of the Metro Atlanta Chamber. "We relish the opportunity to showcase how technology can create more equitable and inclusive communities. This event will demonstrate the many ways that metro Atlanta's business and community leaders are committed to helping solve some of the most challenging issues for our region and the world at large."
