AEG, a global sports and live entertainment company, named Spectrum, the branded suite of advanced broadband services from Charter Communications, Inc., a key partner across AEG’s major assets in its global portfolio.
The comprehensive agreement, brokered by AEG Global Partnerships, designates Spectrum a Founding Partner, a premium designation, of STAPLES Center and Dignity Health Sports Park. Spectrum will also be the official cable, internet, home phone, and mobile phone wireless services partner of STAPLES Center, Dignity Health Sports Park, LA Kings, LA Galaxy and L.A. LIVE.
“We are pleased to bring Spectrum’s best-in-class products and services to these storied brands across Los Angeles,” said Jonathan Hargis, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Charter Communications. “We look forward to partnering with AEG for many years to come in providing the very best in sports and entertainment to customers.”
The partnership expands Spectrum’s presence across Southern California and places them in front of the diverse sports and entertainment audiences that frequent AEG’s various teams and venues across the region. In addition to large-scale branding presence across AEG’s Los Angeles sports franchises and stadiums, Spectrum will also be engaging fans at Dignity Health Sports Park through newly branded, customized hospitality and seating areas.
A new initiative for the LA Galaxy, the Spectrum field-side seats will place fans pitch-side during Galaxy games. Additionally, guests who opt into field-side seats will also be granted access to the exclusive Spectrum Tunnel Club, a new premium space for Galaxy fans this season. The Spectrum Tunnel Club offers select fans unparalleled views of the players as they walk onto the field.
“We are honored to bring Spectrum into the AEG family and work with them across such prominent teams and venues in Los Angeles,” said Nick Baker, chief operating officer, AEG Global Partnerships. “This expansive, strategic partnership was a collaborative effort from the beginning, and Spectrum’s position at the cross-section of entertainment and technology could not be a better fit as we look to continuously amplify and enhance the live event experience.”
On the heels of its launch of Spectrum Mobile, Spectrum looked to AEG to expand its Southern California footprint and support of local sports franchises. In addition to traditional branding across STAPLES Center for the above teams, Spectrum has partnered with the Kings for exposure in the form of a corner in-ice logo. A new signage placement across the NHL in 2018-‘19, the strategic corner location places Spectrum in the middle of the action as fans watch the Kings’ best goals and toughest saves throughout the season.
As a part of the agreement, which was led on the AEG Global Partnerships side by Jeff Webster and Robert Vartan, Spectrum will also engage fans through a variety of digital initiatives, including working with the Kings on the creation of audience-tailored content. With the Kings, Spectrum will be a presenting sponsor of “Black & White.” Since 2015, “Black & White,” available on YouTube, has given fans a behind-the-scenes look at the LA Kings organization and its players. Additionally, Spectrum will work with AEG on a customized sweepstakes for Galaxy fans and the use of STAPLES Center’s iBeacon network for customized promotions and direct messaging.
