Ericsson, a global telecommunications company, in collaboration with Qualcomm, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), and the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin), officially announced the three grand winners of the Hackathon 2025.

Following a series of intensive mentoring sessions and workshops, the competition highlighted cutting-edge 5G and AI innovations across various sectors—from manufacturing to public services—supporting Indonesia’s Digital 2045 Vision and strengthening the nation’s innovation ecosystem.

“Hackathons are not only about building prototypes, but also about creating innovative solutions that can be applied in the real world,” said Daniel Ode, President Director of Ericsson Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, and Brunei. “At Ericsson, we leverage our global innovation ecosystem and collaborations with academia to bring best practices and proven models for digital talent upskilling to Indonesia. We are proud to announce Groups Future of Tech, mAIkroskop, and Tanikan as the top three winners, each presenting industry-ready solutions with strong potential for implementation. Through initiatives like this Hackathon, Ericsson continues to strengthen partnerships that empower local talent and advanced 5G and AI capabilities in support of Indonesia’s Digital Vision 2045.”

Choosing the Best Innovation

The Hackathon 2025 attracted participants from a wide range of sectors, including manufacturing, agriculture, public services, health, energy and constructions. Participants came from diverse backgrounds, from seasoned industry professionals to university students – and from Jakarta as well as other cities across Indonesia, reflecting the breadth of the nation’s innovation landscape. From all submissions, the top 30 teams were selected to take part in intensive mentoring and workshop sessions. The program culminated in a Hacking Day, where teams transformed their ideas into working prototypes and presented them to a panel of expert judges.

“The evaluation focused on relevance, impact, originality, and technical feasibility,” explained Ronald Limoa, VP of Technology Strategy & Consumer Product Innovation at Telkomsel, who also served as a judge and mentor in the 2025 Hackathon. “It was inspiring to see the participants’ enthusiasm and collaborative spirit throughout the competition. At Telkomsel, we continuously seek innovative applications and solutions that can deliver tangible value to our customers and enhance their digital experience. Through this Hackathon, we aim to identify and support new talents whose ideas can help shape the future of connectivity and digital services in Indonesia. This is a testament to the nation’s growing digital capabilities and readiness to compete globally.”

Nies Purwati, Senior Director of Government Affairs for Southeast Asia at Qualcomm International, noted, “I truly appreciate the diversity of innovation and creativity demonstrated by all participants. The ideas presented reflect Indonesia’s growing strength in digital talent. This Hackathon also embodies Qualcomm’s ongoing commitment to develop the ecosystem as well as nurturing digital talent and driving meaningful innovation through advanced wireless and AI technologies that can deliver real impact for industries and communities alike.”

Collaboration with Industry for Real Transformation

“The Hackathon plays an important role in supporting Indonesia’s goal of developing nine million digital talents by 2030. As part of our national digital talent development ecosystem, this initiative aligns closely with Komdigi’s Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS) program and provides a platform for young innovators to transform ideas into practical solutions with real industry impact.” said Minister of Communication and Digital of the Republic of Indonesia, Meutya Hafid.

Sidik Herman, Head of the Industrial Human Resources Education and Training Center, Industrial Human Resources Development Agency, and Director of PIDI 4.0, Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, added, “With over 56 millions MSMEs, Indonesia has a strong foundation for innovation and entrepreneurship. This Hackathon demonstrates how our digital talent can harness that potential to build the next generation of innovative companies – elevating local products, creating sustainable startups, and competing on a global stage. It also serves as an important collaboration platform that transforms Indonesia’s creative energy into real, technology-driven solutions for industry and society. We are confident that the creativity and capability of our digital talent will continue to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a hub for innovation.”

Hackathon 2025 serves as a bridge between digital talent and industry, fostering a sustainable innovation ecosystem where participants’ ideas can continue to grow beyond the competition. This collaboration marks a concrete step toward ensuring that Indonesia’s digital talent is ready to drive industrial transformation and strengthen the nation’s digital competitiveness on both national and global stages. The initiative also aligns with the government’s agenda to position digital infrastructure — including networks, data centers, digital platforms, and AI-driven services — as a critical enabler of national development.
