Alcans Telecom, a company in connectivity solutions, has chosen Huawei, a global leader in network technology, to announce the inauguration of the first 100% XGS-PON city with Wi-Fi 7 in Brazil, in São Carlos, SP. The launch, which will take place this May, will revolutionize connectivity in the country, offering speed and reliability for communication and user experience.
The plans will offer speeds of 2.5 to 10 gigabytes, with no bandwidth or capacity limitations for the home or business. The project is a major step forward compared to traditional plans that currently only reach 1 gigabyte due to the limitations of current technologies.

For Alcans’ CTO, Michel Pádua, Alcans’ partnership with Huawei opens up opportunities to create a more competitive environment that is prepared for digital transformation. “São Carlos, a city in the state of São Paulo, was chosen to be a pilot for this advanced technology because it is considered the national capital of technology. The city will enter a new digital era, enabling ultra-fast and high-capacity connections. This will not only significantly boost the local scenario, but will also enable innovative and high-performance solutions for all types of businesses and future smart cities, ensuring competitiveness and sustainable growth,” he adds.
This development brings significant benefits, especially for the business sector. XGS-PON’s ability to support symmetrical speeds of up to 10 gigabytes with extremely low latency will also be essential for corporations that deal with intense volumes of real-time data, such as remote surgeries, drone operations and police operations centers, for example. “This will allow critical applications to operate without bottlenecks, even during peak hours. For companies that depend on cloud solutions, such as SaaS, ERP, CRM and big data, the infrastructure will allow much faster and uninterrupted access, accelerating productivity and business response,” highlights Michel Pádua.
In addition, the high capacity for simultaneous connections with low latency makes it an ideal infrastructure for IoT, AI operations and Industry 4.0. In service sectors such as hotels, shopping malls and call centers, Wi-Fi 7 will provide a high-speed and stable connection experience for multiple simultaneous users, improving the quality of digital services such as self-check-in, streaming and augmented reality (AR). Another important point is network security. Wi-Fi 7 brings advanced encryption and less interference, offering greater protection for financial transactions and sensitive data.
In terms of the residential market, the arrival of the 100% XGS-PON city with Wi-Fi 7 revolutionizes consumers’ digital experience. The advanced infrastructure offers greater speed and stability, directly impacting users’ daily lives. 8K streaming occurs without interruptions, online games are free of crashes, and connectivity remains stable for devices such as Smart TVs, voice assistants, and IoT.
The technology eliminates Wi-Fi dead zones, providing stable coverage throughout the home, even in rooms with many walls or multi-story apartments. Remote learning and working become more efficient with high-definition video calls and instant file uploads, resulting in increased productivity.
Headquartered in Cajuru (SP), Alcans was founded in 2007, and after several studies and research, the company installed the first wireless internet point. In 2014, another provider was acquired in Ribeirão Preto (SP).
Through this acquisition, the company began operating with fiber optic technology, which enabled it to enter large cities, providing hyper-speed connections. In 2020, Alcans faced a scenario of constant expansion, along with the launch of new products and services for homes and businesses, and an increasingly broad geographic area of operation. While advancing in the market, Alcans also stood out in customer service, which is provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week, becoming a differentiator for users.
Alcans currently has over 1,100 employees, 252 points of presence in 86 cities and its own network of over 16,000 km of aerial fiber optics and over 2,600 km of underground cables on highways, connecting people and businesses in several cities in the interior of São Paulo and Minas Gerais.
With solutions for telephony, television, streaming, camera and voice applications, cloud, security, internal network, virtual PABX, and several other services, with a strong investment in technology and infrastructure, the company continues its growth trajectory, consolidating itself as one of the main players in the sector.
