ZTE Corporation announced that its gigabit optical network terminal, the ZXHN F689, has been the world’s first ONT to get EasyMesh R2 certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance (WFA).
EasyMesh is a standard certification program developed by the Wi-Fi Alliance, in a bid to ensure the interoperability between mesh Wi-Fi devices of different vendors, improve the ease of use of mesh Wi-Fi devices, and promote the development of the home networking market.
The Wi-Fi Alliance has published Release 1 (R1) and Release 2 (R2) of the EasyMesh specification. Compared with R1, R2 has further improved and standardized Wi-Fi functions, such as Wi-Fi diagnostics, channel selection and traffic separation.
In the EasyMesh certification, the ZXHN F689 has passed the key functional tests required by R1, including link establishment, device discovery, automatic configuration, and wireless roaming, as well as those required by R2, such as traffic separation and coordinated Channel Availability Checks (CAC) for Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS).
The tests have proved that the ZXHN F689 is capable of enabling user devices to utilize 5GHz spectrum resources more efficiently and avoid radar signals more flexibly, allowing users to use the guest Wi-Fi function more securely, thereby fully demonstrating ZTE's technological leadership in the home mesh Wi-Fi network arena.
Although the Wi-Fi Alliance has not issued EasyMesh Release 3 (R3), ZTE has already carried out research and verification of the new requirements that may be incorporated into R3, such as QoS, network security, and Wi-Fi 6 mesh capability extension.
ZTE has been leveraging its stringent quality standards and industry-leading innovation capabilities to provide global customers with superior Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) products and services. To date, more than 390 million ZTE CPEs have been shipped and deployed in over 100 countries and regions by over 200 operators. Moving forward, ZTE will continuously introduce innovative home networking solutions and products to help operators accelerate smart home network deployment. and service rollout.
