Windstream Enterprise, a provider of advanced network communications, is introducing SIEM – short for Security Information and Event Management – service to address growing security threats, and regulatory and compliance requirements faced by U.S. businesses.

According to a recent data breach study, malicious or criminal attacks account for 52 percent of breaches in the U.S. These breaches, coupled with human error and system glitches, cost U.S. firms an average of $7.91 million per incident, including costs for mitigation and revenue loss due to customer churn.

“Businesses are increasingly exposed to malicious attacks from an ever-growing number of sources, which calls for a comprehensive approach to detect and defend against these threats,” said Layne Levine, president at Windstream Enterprise and Wholesale. “SIEM is part of our commitment to partnering with businesses to protect their data and customer relationships and meet strict regulatory requirements for long-term success.”

Windstream Enterprise’s SIEM service monitors for threats and responds to those detected in business networks. Log retention is available for devices that are monitored and can be securely archived for up to seven years. The solution complements existing Managed Network Security service and future services such as SD-WAN and Managed Router to provide comprehensive secure solutions.

In addition to SIEM, Windstream Enterprise offers DDoS Mitigation Service, PCI Compliance, SD-WAN Concierge™, OfficeSuite UC® and UCaaS/CCaaS offerings and industry-leading Wi-Fi solutions. It also offers a range of complementary network and communications solutions including Professional Services and access, transport and business continuity solutions including Wavelength Services with Optical Encryption, Switched Ethernet and Fixed Wireless that are collectively designed to help businesses increase productivity, improve ROI and win.

Windstream provides data networking, core transport, security, unified communications and managed services to mid-market, enterprise and wholesale customers across the U.S. The company offers broadband, entertainment and security services for consumers and small and medium-sized businesses primarily in rural areas in 18 states.

Services are delivered over multiple network platforms including a nationwide IP network, our proprietary cloud core architecture and on a local and long-haul fiber network spanning approximately 150,000 miles.
