When it comes to choosing between a wired network and a wireless network, then it is a stalemate because both have their own advantages and disadvantages and it all comes down to the requirements of your business. Although wireless networks are popular all over the world and they provide the mobility that you don’t get with wired networks, even after all this, it may not be the best choice for your business.

Similarly, a wired network won’t always be the best choice for your business and it all comes down to the needs of your business. If you are a business owner and thinking to make a switch over to a wireless network then we will be helping you in this regard to make this decision as we will be discussing some of the advantages of wireless networks over wired networks:

Mobility

The mobility of wireless networks is unmatched and this is something that you cannot get with a wired network. Once you have your wireless network all set up, all of your employees can access the internet right from their rooms and they can access the internet on multiple devices including their laptops, mobile phones, and other devices.

Your employees can do all the important tasks such as access important files or documents without having to use any sort of cables to stay connected to the internet. This may not sound like a big deal but trust us, it is especially during meetings when all the participants have to present different files and documents related to a project.

Convenience

Wireless networks also provide the advantage of the convenience that you don’t get with a wired network. Within just a few minutes, you can set up your network, and then multiple users can connect to the same network in just a few seconds. This ease and convenience are not available with wired networks, which take more time to configure, and for multiple users to join, separate wires are required.

Lower Cost Of Setup

The cost of setting up a wireless network is far less than setting up a wired network. There are fewer switches, routers, cables, and other hardware required to install a wireless network as compared to a wired network. Setting up a wireless router is very easy, you just have to have access to the default gateway address of the router which for most routers is 192.168.0.1, and then enter the details to set up a wireless network.

Setting up a wired network requires a lot of additional equipment such as wireless repeater, commercial-grade routers, and several other things that are not required for a wireless network. This increases the overall cost of the setup. Although, you won’t have to go through the process of setting the network through 192.168.1.1 or the default gateway of the router.

Makes Your Workplace Looks Organized

As mentioned, there is far less hardware required to set up a wireless network than is required to set up a wired network. So, a wireless network makes your workplace and office look more neat, clean, and organized because of fewer cables and less hardware. This might not be a dealbreaker but if you are seriously looking to make an effort and make your office space look organized then obviously, it would make a huge difference.

Easy To Install And Maintain

As compared to wired networks, wireless networks are easy to install and maintain. There is less equipment required to set up and you also don’t have to install a separate cable for every device. In addition to that, maintenance is also easier because most of the stuff is software-based and not hardware-based.

Implementation Of BYOD Policy

It is becoming a norm for workplaces where the employees bring their own devices. This ‘Bring Your Own Device’ policy is becoming common for workplaces all over the globe and with the help of wireless networks, these can easily be implemented, as compared to a wired network.

We have just mentioned some of the advantages of wireless networks over wired networks and we hope that now you have clear information about your wireless network and the next time if you need to choose between wireless or wired networks then perhaps these will help you to make the right decision.
