ADTRAN®, Inc., a provider of next-generation open networking solutions, has announced that Vocus Communications is deploying a range of its next generation access technologies including ADTRAN’s XGS-PON and Mosaic architecture.
The deployment, which is in its final stages of preparedness, will further enable high utilization of Vocus’ extensive metro fiber network whilst enabling 10Gbits/s symmetrical business grade capacity.
Vocus has built a world-class telecommunications infrastructure platform across Australia that maximizes network investment, streamlines operational costs and offers the flexible price points needed for supplying business and backhaul services as well as residential applications.
Vocus will be utilizing ADTRAN’s Multi Service Access Nodes, 10G Optical Line Termination (OLT) equipment and 10G Optical Network Termination (ONT) units to build out the 10G PON deployment. Additionally, Vocus will be using the ADTRAN Mosaic Cloud Platform as an open microservices architecture providing network management and SDN control for the 10Gbps services access network. ADTRAN Mosaic unlocks control and management functions from the underlying network elements, enabling a more flexible, agile services delivery framework.
“Supplying service providers with technology such as XGS-PON gives them a symmetrical, high bandwidth solution. The increased upstream bandwidth will be necessary to support the continued migration of Enterprise applications and storage to the cloud, as well as rising consumer trends such as live streaming,” said Greg Hankinson, regional vice president for ADTRAN.
“As the industry continues to trend towards open, programmable and scalable architectures, ADTRAN is working with service providers like Vocus to meet these trends head on. ADTRAN is committed to delivering services like XGS-PON that allow today’s service providers to evolve and move their networks forward.”
