In line with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of “Make in India” as well as “Digital India” initiative, Vivo Mobile India has initiated its manufacturing unit situated in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
The unit will cater to the manufacturing and assembling of vivo smartphones, creating more jobs and decreasing vivo’s dependence on imports.
Vivo Mobile India even completed its first anniversary on 15th December 2015 and in a short span of time has proved itself as an important smartphone player in the Indian market.
The inauguration witnessed Alex Feng, CEO, vivo Mobile India, Le Yucheng, Chinese Ambassador to India along with esteemed dignitaries Mr. Rama Raman, Chairman Noida, do the ribbon cutting followed by a tour of the manufacturing unit. Vivo Mobile India has invested approx. Rs. 125 crores as its first phase of investment in the 30,000 sq.m facility which comprises several assembly lines, quality control lab and warehouses.
This initiative by vivo Mobile India marks the company’s commitment to the Indian smartphone market. The new manufacturing unit with a maximum production capacity of one million devices a month, will help create around 2,200 jobs.

Commenting on the launch, Rama Raman, Chairman Noida said “We are glad that vivo has commenced its first manufacturing unit in Greater Noida with the vision of creating more jobs and opportunities for Indians, hence supporting the “Make in India” program. We hope the advent of this new journey will bring more growth prospects to vivo.”
The Manufacturing Unit is all set to manufacture and assemble several new models such as Y11, Y21, Y15S, which will meet the present domestic demand. The said smartphones are witnessing a huge acceptance amongst the target group and the manufacturing unit will help vivo Mobile grow its market share further.
Vivo entered India in December 2014 and within a short span the company has made a streak in Indian smartphone market through its consumer centric business approach and Hi-Fi music product DNA, and by launching new models in its three series (X, V and Y series), catering to different TG.
