Telia acquires leading data logistics operator in Lithuania

Telia Lietuva has acquired Data Logistics Center, one of the biggest data logistics operators in the Baltics. The transaction will further strengthen Telia’s position in data center services.

Founded in 2010, Data Logistics Center provides data transfer services in Lithuania and abroad and operates seven data centers in four cities in Lithuania serving banks, telecommunication operators and major providers of internet and cloud computing services.

“Having acquired one of the most modern and largest data transfer and data centre operators in the Baltic States, we will undoubtedly be able to strengthen and develop our business in the field of IT and telecommunications,” Kęstutis Šliužas, CEO of Telia Lietuva, says.

Telia Lietuva already owns one state-of-the-art, safe and efficient Tier III data center. The transaction will further strengthen Telia’s position in data center services in the Baltics.

The acquisition of Data Logistics Center from shareowners Lietuvos Energija (Lithuania Energy) and Litgrid is subject to approval from the Competition Authority and is expected to be completed in the beginning of 2018.

Telia Lietuva is the only company in the Baltics to have 8 state-of-the-art, safe and efficient data centres. Each complies with the TIER III and TIER II safety standard and have been awarded an ISO 27001 safety certification. Its sites are spaced at least 10 km apart, with redundant high speed optical cables connecting them.

Raised access flooring systems, intelligent climate control, backup power generators and an automated fire extinguishing system – these are but a few of the safety requirements that a high quality data centre must conform to.

Data centre infrastructure services involve hosting of customer equipment at one of the seven modern, environmentally-friendly and effective data centres meeting the highest security requirements and the TIER II and TIER III standards.
