Embracing true next generation connectivity, StarHub, a telecom operator in Singapore, has successfully deployed Nokia Networks’ TD-LTE, FDD-LTE and outdoor small cells solution as part of its 4G HetNet in Marina Bay – the flourishing commercial, residential and entertainment hub located at the southern tip of Singapore.
With this solution in place, subscribers are enjoying seamless high-speed mobile connectivity.
In addition to achieving 100% service availability even under heavy load during recent major events, including Singapore’s Jubilee weekend, the HetNet also showcased the industry’s first TDD-FDD VoLTE handover, with zero call-drops and HD voice continuity for subscribers.
In the deployment, Nokia Networks leveraged its solutions and services expertise to integrate TD-LTE, FDD-LTE and small cells into one high-performance network carrying immense amounts of voice and data traffic. As part of the solution, LTE-Advanced carrier aggregation delivered high data rates, while Nokia Flexi Zone small cells were installed at strategic traffic hotspots to handle peak-hour data demand. As a result, subscribers enjoyed an ultra-fast mobile broadband experience with optimum network coverage and capacity.
Nokia Networks’ solutions and services used for the trial:
HetNet solution, comprised of Nokia Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Stations with TD-LTE and FDD-LTE, and Nokia Flexi Zone small cells
Carrier Aggregation software to aggregate different spectrum bands for speedy data transmission
Load balancing capabilities to facilitate optimal utilization of spectrum resources for delivering an unmatched service experience
Project management capabilities provided by Global Service Delivery experts
