SaskTel has announced that TelCare, the company’s employee-driven charitable donation program, contributed nearly $230,000 to 61 locally operated charities and non-profit organizations this year.

TelCare celebrated its 70th Anniversary in 2020. Started in 1950, it is SaskTel’s longest running community investment program. In the last 20 years alone, the amount SaskTel employees have donated along with SaskTel’s 50 percent match is over $6 million!

“Year after year we continue to see the generosity of the people in our province,” said Don Morgan, Minister Responsible for SaskTel. “The employees at SaskTel are a proud example of this, and the commitment they have to making a difference in their communities remains steadfast.”

“TelCare is a provincial program, but it truly has a local focus,” said Doug Burnett, SaskTel President and CEO. “Employees in nine districts across Saskatchewan distribute the funds to organizations of their choice. This time-honoured tradition speaks to the wonderful, giving culture we have at SaskTel.”

SaskTel employees contribute to TelCare through a voluntary payroll deduction. SaskTel then matches 50 percent of employee donations, resulting in a total donation to various well deserving charities and non-profit organizations.

Some of the organizations receiving a donation from TelCare in 2020 include:

New Hope Dog Rescue (Saskatoon & District TelCare)
Southwest Crisis ervice (Swift Current & District TelCare)
Hunger in Moose Jaw (Moose Jaw & District TelCare)
Nipawin Handiworks (Prince Albert & District TelCare)
