SaskTel has recently started switching on its 5G network in the City of Swift Current. Delivering ultra-fast data speeds, SaskTel’s 5G network continues to set a new standard for connectivity in Saskatchewan.
Launching in parts of Swift Current, SaskTel anticipates the majority of the city will have 5G coverage by this summer.
“Our government is pleased with SaskTel’s ongoing progress to bring 5G to their province-wide network,” said Don Morgan, Minister Responsible for SaskTel . “These investments will ensure more people across our province benefit from 5G and its capabilities.”
“This is exciting news for our residents and business community in Swift Current,” said City of Swift Current Mayor, Al Bridal. “Faster connectivity provides more convenience to our daily lives and further opportunities to serve one another better.”
“With each new network launch, we strengthen Saskatchewan’s communications backbone and move forward in our efforts to support a vibrant, smart economy,” said Doug Burnett, SaskTel President and CEO. “As we expand our 5G footprint, we’re eager to bring faster speeds and improved connectivity to more consumers and businesses.”
More than a network upgrade, SaskTel 5G will support more data-driven smart solutions for agriculture and other industries that will help to drive economic development and prosperity across the province.
The continued expansion of its 5G and fibre networks is a direct result of SaskTel’s commitment to invest more than $1.5 billion of capital across Saskatchewan over the next five years. These investments will help Saskatchewan accelerate its transition to becoming a smart province and ensure it remains one of the most well connected regions in the country.
In order to connect to its 5G network, SaskTel customers need to be within a 5G coverage area, have a 5G capable device that is certified for use on the SaskTel 5G network, and subscribe to a 5G compatible wireless plan.
