The City of Humboldt is set to experience the next level in internet speed with the launch of SaskTel infiNET™ service. Starting today, infiNET service is now available in select areas of Humboldt and will soon be available throughout the city.

“SaskTel’s expansion of their cutting-edge infiNET service to the City of Humboldt demonstrates their commitment to the people of this province and further solidifies their position as Saskatchewan’s leading communications provider,” said Don Morgan, Minister Responsible for SaskTel.

Powered by SaskTel’s fibre-optics network, infiNET service delivers speeds reaching up to 300 Megabits per second (Mbps), allowing subscribers to surf, stream, and share however much content they want at incredible speeds. Plus, with advancements in fibre-optics technology, SaskTel will soon deliver internet speeds of up to a Gigabit per second (Gbps) and beyond in the future.

“I know the residents of Humboldt have been eagerly anticipating the arrival of infiNET service and I am excited that we’re now starting to bring it to them so that they may enjoy the tremendous speeds and unparalleled level of connectivity that our world-class fibre optic network delivers,” said Doug Burnett, SaskTel President and CEO.

The arrival of infiNET service to the City of Humboldt is the direct result of SaskTel’s Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) program, an ambitious initiative designed to dramatically enhance internet connectivity in Saskatchewan centres by connecting homes and businesses directly to SaskTel’s advanced fibre-optics network. Beyond the immediate benefits of faster internet speeds, this network upgrade provides SaskTel with a flexible platform that can quickly grow to meet customer’s evolving needs for bandwidth well into the future.

The investment required to bring infiNET service to Humboldt is part of SaskTel’s larger commitment to invest $324 million of capital across Saskatchewan in 2020/21 and over $1.6 billion through 2025. These investments will ensure that Saskatchewan will continue to receive some of the best communication and entertainment services in the world.

SaskTel is the leading Information and Communications Technology (ICT) provider in Saskatchewan, with over $1.2 billion in annual revenue and approximately 1.35 million customer connections including 626,000 wireless accesses, 305,000 wireline network accesses, 281,000 internet accesses and 111,000 maxTV™ subscribers.
