The City of Melfort is set to experience the next level in Internet speed with the launch of SaskTel infiNET service, Saskatchewan’s fastest fibre optics network.
infiNET is now available in select areas of Melfort and will eventually be available throughout the city.
“It is exciting to hear that SaskTel infiNET is now available to the citizens of the City of Melfort,” said Rick Lang, City of Melfort Mayor. “This service is cutting edge and a huge improvement to our city and we thank SaskTel and the Government of Saskatchewan for their commitment to improving the everyday life of the people in Melfort and indeed in the entire province.”
With speeds reaching up to 300 Megabits per second (Mbps), infiNET allows subscribers to surf, stream, and share the content they want faster than ever before while never having to worry about usage limits. In addition, maxTV gets even better with infiNET, delivering a truly immersive entertainment experience that allows subscribers to connect up to 7 set-top boxes – all with HD and recording capabilities.
“The expansion of infiNET to the City of Melfort is yet another example of SaskTel’s commitment to delivering the absolute best services to the people of our province,” said Don Morgan, Minister Responsible for SaskTel.
The expansion of infiNET to the City of Melfort is the direct result of SaskTel’s Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) program, an ambitious initiative designed to dramatically enhance internet connectivity in some of Saskatchewan’s largest urban centres by connecting homes and businesses directly to SaskTel’s cutting edge fibre optics network.
Beyond the immediate benefits of faster Internet speeds, this network upgrade will have added benefits in the future. As demands for bandwidth and faster speeds increase, infiNET provides SaskTel with a flexible platform that can quickly grow to meet its customer’s evolving needs.
“We’re excited to bring the power of our world class fibre optics network to the people of Melfort,” said Doug Burnett, SaskTel President and CEO. “As work begins to wrap up on this stage of the project, our focus will soon shift to connecting neighbourhoods to infiNET in the communities of Humboldt, Melville, Nipawin, and Tisdale.”
The expansion of infiNET to these communities is part of SaskTel’s commitment to invest $1.4 billion across Saskatchewan through 2023. Investments like these will ensure that Saskatchewan will continue to receive some of the best communication and entertainment services in the world.
