Taking its galaxy series of smartphones another step ahead, global mobile handset maker Samsung India has unfurled its new Galaxy S5 smartphone in New Delhi. This Galaxy S-series smartphone was launched by the company’s Country Manager for Mobile and IT, Vineet Taneja in the company of Hollywood actress Freida Pinto.
Speaking at the launch, Vineet Taneja said, “I am extremely happy to announce this latest edition in the Galaxy family. Galaxy S5 is set to redefine the way we live, work and play. We have incorporated a lot of user feedback t come up with specific set of features that users want in their daily lifestyles,” he added.
This latest smartphone features a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED full HD display, the Galaxy S5 comes with 2GB of RAM, 16MP rear camera, 2800 mAh battery and Android 4.4. The Galaxy S5 variant being released in India is powered by 1.9GHz Exynos octa-core processor. And in order to pack more set of eye catching features, Samsung has also included a fingerprint scanner and heart-rate monitor on the smartphone.
This smartphone runs on a toned-down version of the UX and includes features like Ultra Power Saving Mode, Super Dimming, Adaptive Display, Private Mode, Kids Mode, and Knox security. Samsung has also pre-loaded S-Health, Google apps and other Samsung applications on the phone.
Wearables
Samsung has also launched three wearable devices - Gear Fit, Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo which allows users to express their mood or coordinate with their outfit with modern and sophisticated strap color options including Charcoal Black, Gold Brown and Wild Orange for Gear 2 and Charcoal Black, Mocha Grey and Wild Orange for Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit.
The home screen background, clock face and font are also customizable to reflect their personal taste. The devices also offer personal fitness coaching in real time, allowing users to develop a customizable fitness routine and monitor their heart rate in order to improve their overall well-being.

Price and Availability
The Samsung Galaxy S5 is priced between Rs. 51,000/- and Rs. 53.000/-. Galaxy Gear 2 is priced at Rs. 21,900/- and both Galaxy Gear 2 Neo and Galaxy Gear Fit are priced at Rs. 15,900/- each. These devices will be available across India through Samsung’s retail stores and e-commerce sites on April 11, 2014.
Samsung India has also revealed that it has sold over 35,000,000 Galaxy devices in the country till now. This number includes all Galaxy smartphones and tablets from the company.
