As part of its mission to transform Radio Access Networks (RAN) to be open, intelligent, virtualized and fully interoperable, the O-RAN ALLIANCE announced that Salam Mobile joined as the 33rd operator member, expanding the global community of mobile networks whose operators are dedicated to delivering O-RAN.
Salam Mobile recently announced plans to partner with the Open RAN ecosystem to deploy and operate the Open RAN network, fulfilling Salam's desire to leverage its existing mobile offering by delivering a richer customer experience and unlocking new opportunities for the digitally organized generation of Saudi Arabia and to support the kingdom on its way into the digital future.
“Operators continue to advance open RAN around the globe, as evidenced by the growing membership of the O-RAN ALLIANCE,” said Alex Jinsung Choi, CEO of the O-RAN ALLIANCE. "We are particularly pleased to welcome Salam Mobile as a second member from the Middle East, where we see great potential for this technology to help operators develop and launch innovative and sustainable services."
“We believe the future of the telecom industry will be more open, virtualized, cloud-native, intelligent and software-centric. Salam has joined the O-RAN ALLIANCE to collaborate with the Open RAN ecosystem to build a fully automated, resilient and self-sufficient open radio access network," said Ahmed H. AlGhamdi, CTO of Salam.
