ROOT Data Center has announced that its MTL-R1 and MTL-R2 facilities in Montréal have been enabled by Megaport’s global ecosystem of IT, cloud and network providers, powered by its Software Defined Network (SDN) technology.
ROOT’s decision to become “Megaported” underpins its commitment to bring world-class solutions and partners to its data center customers.
Leveraging Megaport, a leading Network as a Service provider, ROOT customers can rapidly deploy hybrid and multicloud architectures with direct connections to major Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, IBM Cloud, Google Cloud Platform, Oracle Cloud, Alibaba Cloud, and Salesforce in conjunction with their colocation service.
The partnership also enables ROOT customers to leverage on-demand, elastic connectivity, enabled by Megaport’s user-friendly self-service portal to design more robust hybrid IT environments.
“The partnership between ROOT Data Center and Megaport removes barriers to cloud adoption, providing customers a more flexible option to leverage public cloud services in conjunction with colocation,” says AJ Byers, President and CEO, ROOT Data Center. “Their legacy applications can remain in ROOT’s colocation facilities, while cloud-ready applications can seamlessly migrate to various CSPs and their specific global regions using a single cross-connect to Megaport from our Montréal data centers.”
According to 451 Research, 69 percent of enterprises will utilize multi-cloud hybrid environments by 2019, bringing both greater choice but also increasing complexity when it comes to interconnecting and integrating their IT infrastructure environments. By partnering with Megaport, ROOT simplifies and streamlines the migration to hybrid IT environments, providing customers with a secure, flexible and cost-effective solution to interconnecting their colocation environment with one or more industry-leading public clouds.
“Ensuring performance and scalability of cloud environments is a primary concern for Enterprises,” adds Vincent English, CEO of Megaport. “The combination of Megaport’s SDN and ROOT’s data center facilities achieves this by providing customers with a gateway to next-generation hybrid cloud solutions through secure and direct interconnection to leading public CSPs. The partnership makes integrating and scaling cloud environments simple for enterprises, driving agility, cost savings and business and digital transformation.”
