Delivering next generation capabilities, Redknee Solutions Inc., a provider of real-time monetization and subscriber management software, has launched the latest version of its Intelligent Network (IN) solution for GSM-Railway (GSM-R) networks at ProRail, the Dutch railway infrastructure operator.

ProRail is a Government task organization responsible for maintenance and extension of the national railway infrastructure including allocating rail capacity and traffic control. Redknee Railway is an integral part of Nokia Networks’ end-to-end GSM-R solution, which enables Railway Network Operators (RNOs) to deliver better operational support and increased reliability of the GSM-R network.

Redknee’s solutions are providing greater agility and scalability for railways, utilities, smart energy and Internet of Things (IoT) solution providers to quickly advance their business and growth strategies.

ProRail launched the latest version of the Redknee Railway solution, which provides the railway infrastructure operator with a Next Generation Intelligent Network (ngIN) and delivers additional value-added services (VAS) capabilities.

Redknee Railway, part of the Redknee Connected Suite, is an off-the-shelf, productized solution that integrates into the network infrastructure, providing RNOs with enhanced operational safety, ease of use and the flexibility to deliver a high quality railway communications system.

In addition, Redknee Railway offers smart operational features that far exceed the current standards, including the provision of continuous availability through Geographical Redundancy in the event of a disaster. The solution’s active/active architecture duplicates most of the core network elements, therefore matching the traffic, with live traffic handled simultaneously by both geographically separated sites.

With Redknee Railway, RNOs are better equipped to perform maintenance without disrupting service and have assurance that they can deliver continuous operations. ProRail is utilizing Redknee Railway to provide a fully redundant GSM-R network with an easy-to-adopt, cost-efficient and future-proof approach.

Allard Klomp, Manager Infraservices Networks at ProRail commented: “ProRail is responsible for the rail network in the Netherlands. To continue to provide the highest quality of service and safety to our railway network system we required a robust, intelligent solution. Through our partnership with Nokia Networks we deployed the Redknee Railway solution, which has enabled us to efficiently manage the network and deliver exceptional service to our customers. The dedication and support received from Nokia Networks and Redknee was key to the success of the project, which was fulfilled on time and within budget.”

Dirk Lewandowski, head of Railway Solutions at Nokia Networks commented: “Nokia Networks and Redknee helped ProRail build a reliable Geo Redundant Intelligent Network solution as part of the GSM-R network in the Netherlands. Our strong relationship with the customer and Redknee were key to the successful collaboration during the implementation project. With the new solution, ProRail can deliver a safer, more cost-effective service and ultimately enhance reliability of train travel for passengers.”

Lucas Skoczkowski, CEO at Redknee, commented: “We are pleased to support ProRail with the latest version of our Redknee Railway solution, part of the Redknee Connected Suite. This successful upgrade is demonstrative of how Redknee is supporting the connected digital economy and driving innovation across multiple verticals including railways, utilities, smart cities, automotive, telecommunications and the Internet of Things. At Redknee, we will continue to invest in our portfolio to support service providers worldwide, and advance our position as the provider of choice for monetization and subscriber management solutions.”
