Peter-Service Drives Billing Transformation for Turkcell Northern Cyprus

Peter Service, a fast-growing telecom software vendor, has completed a billing transformation project for Turkcell Northern Cyprus, a telecom operator providing mobile and broadband services to more than 500,000 customers, under a two-year contract.

As the result of the project, the operator got a carrier-class convergent real-time system providing a single point of rating, charging and billing regardless of the payment method or service.

Under the contract, Peter-Service delivered a convergent billing solution to upgrade its own postpaid business support system (BSS) and replace a third-party prepaid billing system. As part of the transformation, in June 2016 more than 500,000 prepaid subscribers were migrated to the new single system. Peter-Service also delivered managed services and user acceptance testing services.

“Driven by the rapid rollout of 3G networks in Cyprus, Turkcell Northern Cyprus adopted a new strategy that sought to abandon the existing BSS/OSS arrangement where subscribers were divided into two groups with different services,” İsmet Yazıcı, Turkcell Northern Cyprus CEO, said. “We selected a single provider who facilitated a smooth transition to a convergent solution which is now serving all of our subscribers.”

Today, the convergent billing solution from Peter-Service is supporting more than half a million subscribers. By selecting Peter-Service, Turkcell North Cyprus managed to cut its operational costs (OPEX) through the reduction in the number of systems to be operated and maintained.
