Keeping in mind the need for enabling next generation-ready infrastructure for the Television industry, NexTV Summit is being organized in New Delhi in order to create a unique platform where the overall ecosystem can interact and react to the growing need for incorporating next generation services and monetization opportunities.
Deepak Ramsurrun, Events Manager, Dataxis APAC/Africa speaks with Zia Askari from TelecomDrive.com about NexTV Summit and the company’s future plans for India.
What are the key focus areas for NexTV summit in New Delhi?
The key focus of the Summit is to capture the changing trends in TV Business in India, highlight the major initiatives being taken by key players in the industry and discuss the adoption of new technologies and solutions which will fit in the needs of the players and the industry. That is the reason for our choice of topics: TV Everywhere & OTT in Delhi & India, The future of FTA TV in India, Advanced Pay-TV Services, Cable Digitisation, Impact and Strategies for the future, Telecom Operators & video models.
Today there are many global events happening. How is this event going to be different?
There are some global events which tend to look at things globally and not necessarily from the local view point. Dataxis NexTV summits are known from their long experience in Latin America to always focus on local specificities. For example for the Delhi event when speaking on the important digitisation process we have ensured to take on board speakers of Delhi and surrounding states: Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarkhand, Uttar Pradesh. The objective is to ensure that the audience have more close to reality picture of what is happening in the north. So local specificities are important for us. Moreover given the market research activities of Dataxis in India and news network we are well placed to understand and engage debate on what is happening in the TV market.
What are your expectations from this initiative? How many companies are participating?
The main aim of such a forum is to be able, through panel discussions, give the executives (Broadcasters, pay-tv, telecom and cable operators) a better understanding on what is happening around them and to give them an insight on where we are heading in the TV industry. What we also want is to make it a platform to picture the future of the TV industry and TV Business.
Regarding participation of companies we have 26 Speakers from the following: Sony Entertainment(Sony Liv), Viacom 18 (Viacom 18 Digital Ventures), Eros International (ErosNow), Reliance Entertainment, Tata Sky, CineFunTV, PK Online, CineFun TV, MTNL, Reliance Jio Infocomm, DD Freedish, Muvi Studio, Akamai, Conax, Cubiware, Pace, Surewaves, Indusind Media & Communication Ltd, Sea TV Network, Home Cable Networks, Den Saya Channel Network, Satellite Television Network, Chouksey Entertainment, Cable Operators Federation of India, TEMA & CMAI and Broadband India Forum.
We also have Executive level people from about 100 companies attending the event.
What are some of the big advantages, which this event brings for global vendors?
The whole idea of these vendors is to provide solutions in line with the needs of the market. TV Business in India is at a stage where so many things are happening at the same time, like if on one hand we are speaking of digitisation on the other we are talking of growth of OTT services. There are therefore many avenues for the vendors to share their knowhow and expertise to help the operators and the TV business to move to the next level. Most importantly the event is an opportunity to local players to network directly with key vendor executives and discuss on solutions.
Do you have any plan to bring this event to other Indian cities?
For this year the present event in Delhi comes after the NexTV Summit in Mumbai, last April. For next year we plan to have two more events: Mumbai in April and Delhi in November. We can in the future explore to bring the event to other cities.
