Nepal exceeds 20 million mobile subscriber base mark

Owing to the increase in demand from the end customer side, according to Nepal Telecommunications Authority, the country's mobile subscriber base has exceeded the 20 million mark in the month of Januray, 2014.

The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has reported 20.12 million mobile subscribers in mid-January, this registers an increase from 19.86 million reported a month earlier.

As Nepal is a highly GSM oriented market, the total number of subscriber includes 19.09 million GSM users, up from 18.85 million during previous month, while the balance customers use Nepal Telecom's CDMA services.

Nepal's Ncell has ranked first in the GSM market with 10.97 million subscribers, which is up from 10.87 million during the previous month, while Nepal Telecom had 8.12 million GSM subscribers, up from 7.98 million in December 2013. The company had 1.03 million CDMA customers, up from 1.02 million a month earlier.
