ZTE Corporation, a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, jointly announced with Telefonica Mexico Movistar (TMM) that the co-established beyond 100G optical transport network (OTN) were formally put into commercial application today.
This network covers three core cities: Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara. It meets the high traffic demands to bring ultimate user experience for the next five to ten years.
As the second largest mobile operator in Mexico, TMM provides telecommunications services for over 25 million users. In recent years, with large-scale deployments of 4G networks and rapid growth of bandwidth demand, the existing OTN of TMM has encountered unprecedented pressure and challenges. ZTE’s ZXONE 9700, the new-generation E-OTN device with ultra-large cross-connect capacity employed in OTN, can solve these problems.
The ZXONE 9700 can scale up to 400G in the future by employing multi-service unified cross-connect platform, flex grid, and beyond 100G high-order modulation technologies. It can effectively solve the bottleneck of OTN electrical cross-connect capacity and meet the ultra-high bandwidth requirement of core rings in the major cities.
In the meantime, the WASON protection solution, with a function of supporting smooth upgrade to SDN, is adopted to enhance the network reliability and security. Moreover, the loaded OTDR, OSA, and Ethernet service aggregation and processing functions can highly reduce the costs of the operation and maintenance (O&M) and network construction.
As the star product of ZTE, the ZXONE 9700 has been rated as “Leader” in the class of “metro packet -- optical transport product” by GlobalData for consecutive three times, and was rated as “Leader” in the class of “core packet -- optical transport product” in March 2017. According to the latest report of GlobalData, ZXONE 9700, the E-OTN device of ZTE, is the No.1 in the class in terms of OTN and packet switching capacity and client interface density.
As a leader in 100G/beyond 100G innovation technologies, ZTE has been making significant contributions to the development of optical network. So far, ZTE has deployed over 300 optical networks across the world, with the total length of network fibers exceeding 300,000 km.
According to Ovum’s latest market share data, among the top ten vendors in 17Q2, ZTE’s Optical Networking (ON) products had largest gain in market share growth on a rolling 4-quarter basis, and ZTE’s ON market share continues to be ranked in second place globally.
