US based New Horizon Communications (NHC) has built a geographically redundant, IP-based voice infrastructure using UK based Metaswitch Networks’ software and equipment for its core voice switching functionality.
NHC is a full-service provider of cloud-based and traditional communications services for businesses nationwide. Its traditional voice, data and Internet offerings include hundreds of products spanning basic local and long distance, high-speed Internet and advanced networking solutions like MPLS VPN. The company’s newVoice suite of cloud-based products, launched four years ago, includes Hosted PBX and SIP Trunking.
Debt free and profitable since 2004, NHC serves thousands of customers and multiple verticals nationally. In addition to NHC’s comprehensive solutions, the company offers exceptional, personalized customer service coupled with aggressive pricing, flexible contract terms, consolidated billing and a single point of contact for account management. The success of this business model has helped drive NHC’s steadily increasing revenues from $25.9 million in 2009 to more than $60 million in 2014.
NHC will use Metaswitch components to add to the capabilities of its newVoice service and will provide robust, flexible options for Hosted PBX, SIP Trunking and Unified Communications (UC). These components include Metaswitch’s Perimeta Session Border Controller, deployed in a distributed environment; and Metaswitch’s MetaView Service Assurance Servers (SAS) for always-on diagnostics, including internal policy application and network protocol tracing.
Metaswitch’s Multiservice Telephony Application Server (MTAS) is being deployed for IP call control, UC, voicemail and other features. NHC will also use Metaswitch’s Accession Communicator for desktop and mobile, to deliver a rich UC experience, allowing subscribers to gracefully move calls among other Accession clients; mobile phones on 3G, 4G or Wi-Fi; and fixed-line phones -- all while the call is in progress.
“We’re pleased to assist NHC in adding to its newVoice service capabilities with a flexible, IP-based network, says Bruce Hembree," EVP of field operations for Metaswitch. “These new components will help NHC continue to provide exceptional service to its business customers nationwide.”
“NHC is excited to incorporate Metaswitch’s features into our newVoice product suite in order to add even more value to what we offer our customers," said Stephen Gibbs, NHC’s president and chief operating officer. “We believe our customers will experience enhanced performance and service as a result of our new partnership with Metaswitch, and we look forward to a strong relationship for years to come.”
