A smartphone is in news for quite sometime, popularly rumored as Huawei P20. Now with the arrival of an event invitation of the grand launch of the Huawei’s upcoming smartphone on March 27 this year, the phone has instantly become the talk of the tech town.

The recently leaked invitation reveals three rings placed on a background image of the Eiffel Tower. It has been observed that in earlier invitations, Huawei had mentioned two rings for a dual rear camera setup smartphone. Now, the presence of three rings clearly indicates Huawei P20 device to sport a triple camera setup.

Huawei P20 would most probably be the successor of the company’s 2017 smartphone, Huawei P10. Earlier, it was said that the company might bring Huawei P11 as its successor. But in June 2017, the company had registered P20. Chances are high that Huawei P20 would take place as the real successor of the P10. However, nothing is confirmed at the moment. But we are considering it to be named as Huawei P20 only. Exact retail name of the device will be unveiled in days to come.

The leaked renders from the comparison site Tiger Mobiles of the Huawei P20 device suggest it to come with an all-screen front with slim bezels at the bottom. An iPhone X like notch on top is also speculated. Most of the leaks have directed it to have a USB Type C port at the bottom. Huawei, this time, might ditch fingerprint sensor in the P20 smartphone. Next best option would be, undoubtedly, facial recognition, already seen in the Huawei Honor View 10.

Several speculations and rumours about the Huawei P20 smartphone have already been available on the internet claiming it to flaunt triple rear camera setup and iPhone X like notch. We accumulated all rumours surrounding the Huawei P20, so let’s have a look at the latest information available about the device.

Display & Design

Last year, Huawei had launched P10 and P10 Plus, measuring 5.1-inch and 5.5-inch display, respectively. But now, speculations have reached to a conclusion that the new Huawei phone will get an 18:9 ratio display measuring almost 6-inch. No concrete information is available at the moment. Last year, a leak was reported claiming that the Huawei new smartphone might include a ‘notch’ at the top of its display.

Coming to its exterior design, the phone will follow the frontal full screen design, widely popular among other high-end smartphones lately. A couple of render images have leaked as well revealing the overall look and feel of the device. Spotted in all black colour variant, the phone has got a full 18:9 display with no physical buttons.

Processor & features

Under the hood, the phone might be installed with the latest Kirin 970 chipset, last found in the Huawei Mate 10 smartphone. The key highlight of the chipset is said to be the presence of dedicated Neutral Processor Unit (NPU), utilised for integrating artificial intelligence (AI) across the unit.

Apart from Kirin 970 chipset, we expect the phone to add 6 or 8 GB of RAM. The device is expected to arrive with Android Oreo with Huawei’s own skin on top. Like Huawei P10, the upcoming Huawei phone would be equipped with a headphone jack. Wireless charging and water-dust resistance quotient could be blended.

Facial recognition is another most anticipated feature of the device that has glued everyone’s attention so far. It has been speculated that the Huawei P20 could support the similar recognition feature, which would be more secure and accurate as compared to Apple Face ID. The technology was introduced recently at an event, revealing that the Huawei’s face recognition feature is more secure and can unlock a device in just 0.4 seconds.

Cameras

The primary highlight and the much anticipated feature of the Huawei P20 is its camera setup. What we have deduced from all leaked rumours and stories is that the P20 smartphone would flaunt a triple camera setup at its rear portion. Industry insiders have speculated it to boast a triple lens 40 megapixel rear camera setup coupled with LED flash. The unique camera setup at the back could support a 5X hybrid zoom capabilities. The setup would be co-developed with Leica, as seen in previously launched models. On the front, the device might get a 24-megapixel single shooter.

Price and availability

As far as pricing of the phone is concerned, no exact information is confirmed till now. However, it has been expected that the Huawei P20 might cost you around $799. As expected, the Huawei P20 will make its debut at its launch event, scheduled on March 27. Once the phone is made live, the company would make efforts to put the device on sale by Mid-April in select nations.

Besides Huawei P20, another smartphone could arrive featuring bigger display size and battery capacity. Rumours claim it to be called as Huawei P20 Plus. Overall, the company is likely to unveil three models - Huawei P20, P20 Plus and P20 Lite at the upcoming event. Huawei P20 Lite would be a mid-range smartphone laced with decent specs sheet.
