SaskTel infiNET™ service, Saskatchewan’s fastest fibre optics network, is coming to Humboldt, Melfort, Melville, Nipawin, and Tisdale. Construction will begin in the coming weeks, with infiNET expected to begin launching in select neighbourhoods in all five communities by the end of 2019.
“Council and I are very excited that SaskTel is bringing this upgrade to Humboldt,” said Humboldt Mayor, Rob Muench. “We live in an increasingly data-hungry culture that relies on bandwidth. Residents and businesses alike are looking for faster, more cost-effective, secure and reliable ways to share information and do business. Upgrading to a fibre optics backbone and connecting homes and offices is a very positive economic influence for our community and for those looking to relocate here.”
“SaskTel’s infiNET network is one of the most advanced and reliable communication networks available anywhere in the world today,” said Don Morgan, Minister Responsible for SaskTel. “With this latest expansion, SaskTel continues to deliver the technology and tools that the people and businesses in our province need to compete and succeed in the modern world.”
“With infiNET, our customers will be able to enjoy incredibly fast internet speeds that are unrivaled by anything else in their communities,” said Doug Burnett, SaskTel President and CEO. “And, as customer demand for bandwidth evolves over time, the fibre optics platform that infiNET is built on will provide us with the flexibility required to quickly grow and meet those demands for decades to come.”
