euNetworks Group Limited (“euNetworks”), a Western European bandwidth infrastructure company, announced has agreed to acquire the dark fiber business of a Belgian utility company (“the Business”) has.

Established in the late 1990s, the business comprises a canal-based network with 1,660 km of fiber optic cables distributed over single routes in Brussels and long-haul routes throughout Belgium. It is also close to 13 data centers and has access to additional high-bandwidth locations.

The long-haul infrastructure will provide dark fiber and light services to euNetworks' existing customers, from national and regional ISPs to content and cloud providers, hyperscalers and mobile network operators. The network has recently undergone multiple upgrades and will support the bandwidth needs of euNetworks' customers with its expansion capacity and ability to pull new cables of higher capacity.

The expansion of the business complements euNetworks' existing strategy. As euNetworks focuses on delivering high-bandwidth fiber optic connections between and within European cities, the company continues to invest in its network by building unique routes, adding multiple different paths and expanding reach to key hyperscale data center locations, data center clusters and network aggregation points. These investments drive the growth of the company and the capacity needs of euNetworks' customers.

"euNetworks continues to differentiate itself in the digital infrastructure ecosystem by providing its customers with critical internet infrastructure through an asset-rich business focused on developing and deepening its fiber optic networks in Europe," said Paula Cogan, Chief Executive Officer by euNetworks. “This acquisition will strengthen euNetworks' leadership position in European infrastructure as we expand in Belgium while focusing on providing our customers with unique and scalable network routes between key data centers. In addition, it offers attractive investment opportunities as we move into adjacent regions together with our customers to offer them an end-to-end experience,

Cogan added, “The network will be deployed with existing commercial and operational contracts. These include long-term dark fiber deals that have the potential to bring additional revenue to euNetworks, as well as a number of key indirect channel partnerships that will support continued pipeline growth. We look forward to welcoming and working closely with these new customers, suppliers and partners. We anticipate rapid network integration and plan to set up a team in Belgium to support our new stakeholders.”
