The three-year transformation project will optimize VITRO Pasig’s support infrastructure facility in order to generate more power capacity
ePLDT, Inc., the country’s leading enabler of digital solutions, fortifies its capabilities and leadership in the local data center space through the transformation of its first purpose-built data center in the Philippines.
VITRO Pasig, the pioneer data center of the group, continuously operates to this day since its establishment in 2000 and serves as a fortress for many local enterprises in events of natural and man-made disruptions. As it hits the 20-year mark, ePLDT partnered with global specialist in energy management and automation Schneider Electric to holistically transform the said data center and equip it with the latest available technologies.
The three-year transformation project will optimize VITRO Pasig’s support infrastructure facility in order to generate more power capacity — which will enable the facility to accommodate and host more application requirements of its customers.
Moreover, this will also elevate the data center’s operational and technological capabilities towards world-class service excellence, further strengthening ePLDT’s leadership position in the data center business.
“The strategic transformation initiative will not only improve VITRO Pasig’s physical infrastructure but more importantly innovate our data center operations management. Beyond just a facility revamp, the project will optimize our current manpower to help us deliver even better and higher quality of data center solutions and services,” said Dave Simon, Chief Technology Officer and Cloud & Data Center Business Operations Head of ePLDT.
VITRO Pasig’s technical design will also be revamped to make it at par with ePLDT’s Tier-3 data center sites in Makati and Clark, Pampanga and turn it into an efficient, environmentally sustainable, and digital-enabled data center.
Nerissa Ramos, ePLDT’s Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, detailed on the decades-long endeavors of the group in achieving its undisputed leadership in the industry at present. From having only one data center in the beginning, ePLDT now holds the largest network of ten interconnected data centers with a combined capacity of over 9,000 racks and more than 85 megawatts of power.
“We are further enhancing the capabilities of our world-class VITRO Data Center network primarily to cater to the growing needs and IT requirements of our valued customers. We at ePLDT are always in pursuit of bringing quality and unparalleled service offerings to ensure the business continuity and successful digital transformation of enterprises in the country,” Ramos said.
VITRO Data Center offers colocation and connectivity services that assure customers of data security and protection, data accessibility, and disaster resiliency throughout its network.
“We would like to thank ePLDT for this partnership and would like to celebrate this important milestone of the group. We’re very excited to partner with an industry-leading organization like ePLDT for the strategic transformation of their data center. We are eager to see this whole digital transformation journey unfold through our Ecostruxure IT solutions,” said Alexandre Vermot, Schneider Electric Philippines Country President.
