Datawind joins the smartphone party

Riding high on the ongoing surge towards smartphone usage, Aakash tablet maker Datawind has forayed into touch-screen smartphone segment with the introduction of three smartphones at a price starting from Rs 3,499, which are equipped with its patented mobile internet technology.

This is set to further entice the Indian smartphone market as the market is fast moving towards the B and C class cities of the country and affordability of smartphone has considerably come down now. The dual-sim smartphones from Datawind and christened as PocketSurfer and are equipped with internet acceleration technology which can utilize 2G networks in a better manner.

The 2G smartphones from Datawind is being priced at Rs 3,499 and Rs 4,999, on the other hand the 3G handset carries a price tag of Rs 6,499. If all goes well, these smartphones will be seen at most of the retail outlets and multi brand retail showrooms of the country as well.
