Customer Experience: PLDT enriches the Sinulog 2019 experience

PLDT, along with its wireless brand Sun, continued to make its presence felt in Sinulog, one of the Philippines' biggest festivals. Sinulog is one of the country’s much-awaited festivals where Cebuanos celebrate their devotion to the Sto. Niño.

January marks the opening of new chapters, the seeking of thrilling adventures, and the celebration of one of the country’s much awaited festivals Sinulog. A yearly grand festival in the beautiful City of Cebu, Sinulog is that time of the year when locals and tourists, alike, celebrate their devotion to Sto. Niño. PLDT, along with its wireless brand Sun, continued to make its presence felt in one of the country’s biggest festivals.

“Sinulog is Cebu’s most beloved and celebrated festivals. It is during this time when we give everything we have to honor Sto. Niño. PLDT has always shown their utmost support in making Sinulog bigger and brighter every year,” PLDT Community Relations (ComRel) Division Head Katherine Diaz De Rivera said.

PLDT, through its ComRel Division, participated in the Miss Sinulog Festival Queen 2019, a pageant that brings together inspiring ladies within the Visayas region.

Represented by PLDT Cebu Consumer Experience Zone (CXZ) Head Erwin Rubi, PLDT conferred the Miss PLDT Award to Phoebe Godinez. Hailing from Lapu-Lapu City, Godinez is a first year Mass Communication student, majoring in Film Media at the Cebu Normal University.

“PLDT continues to enrich every Filipino’s festival experience as it, once again, becomes a part of this year’s Sinulog Festival. We are bringing such an unforgettable experience to the Filipino people as PLDT powers the country’s grandest and biggest festival,” said Rubi.

As Miss PLDT, Godinez took home P10,000 in cash and a trolley bag. The 20-year old Cebuana beauty expresses her gratitude for being hailed as this year’s Miss PLDT.

“I'd like to thank PLDT for seeing through me and chose me as the ideal ambassadress of PLDT. I will do my best to embody the mission and vision of the Company. As Miss PLDT and a communication student, I will utilize my skills to show how important connection is between individuals and that working together leads to a progressive and pluralistic society,” said Godinez.

PLDT, through its ComRel Division, also gave away premium items to the rest of the Miss Sinulog Festival top winners, including this year’s Miss Sinulog Festival Queen.

Rubi and PLDT ComRel Division Head Katherine Diaz De Rivera are joined by the PLDT employees from Manila and Cebu as well as the Sinulog dancers.

PLDT ComRel also sponsored the Sto. Niño garden arrangement situated in front of the PLDT Jones office. Through PLDT ComRel, a salo-salo was held for the PLDT employees and guests.

Moreover, PLDT Home and PLDT ComRel partnered in bringing an experience like never before throughout the Sinulog Festival as they provided internet connectivity in the festival’s major events such as The Magellan’s Cross, Plaza Independencia, Cebu City Sports Center, and Fuente Osmeña.

PLDT Home also set up a booth in the PLDT Jones Office where it aimed to engage eager customers and festivalgoers, alike. PLDT Home offered exciting products and services such as the PLDT Home Fibr + Google WiFi, Prepaid Home WiFi, and Smart GigaX Plan.

Every year, the Sinulog Festival Grand Parade is often the main highlight of the Sinulog Festival. Held at the sports center, the Grand Parade showcased the culture and talent of the Cebuanos. Sinulog is part of every Cebuanos’ fiber and being. It serves as a platform for each one of them to pay homage to Sto. Niño. It is in celebrating the Sinulog Festival that the colorful identity of the Filipino people is revealed – one that recognizes the country’s beautiful culture and tradition.

One’s Sinulog experience will not be complete without the grand procession for Sto. Niño. The procession gathers people from all walks of life – one that is often a mark of true camaraderie and togetherness. A Holy Mass was also held at the Cebu City Sports Centeron Sunday before the Sinulog 2019 Grand Parade Kick-off. The Holy Mass is true validation of every Cebuano’s efforts in honor of Sto. Niño as the Parish Priest blesses all the sacrifices made during the festival.
