Coriant, a supplier of networking solutions for network operators in over 100 countries, has announced completion of MEF 100G CE 2.0 certification for the Coriant® mTera® Universal Transport Platform (UTP).

Coriant is among an inaugural group of six networking vendors recognized by the MEF as being the first to offer 100G CE 2.0 certified products, and is the first company to bring compliant 100G CE support to an innovative platform with the unique ability to switch packet, OTN, and SONET/SDH services within a single physical interface.

"As network operators scale their packet-optimized transport networks to meet growing demand for enterprise cloud connectivity and carrier-class Ethernet services, Coriant's solutions enable efficient interworking at higher speeds and critical assurance of consistent and reliable end-user service performance," said Brian Nagle, Director of Product Line Management, Coriant. "Successful certification on our mTera® Universal Transport Platform represents another milestone that underscores Coriant's commitment to industry standards and leadership in end-to-end packet and CE 2.0 solutions."

The MEF Carrier Ethernet Equipment Certification Program for 100G, which advances packet-based service delivery by an order of magnitude, focused on point-to-point E-Line and E-Access services with additional test cases covering the full suite of 100G service attributes, including performance and bandwidth profiles. As service providers transform the delivery of business services from traditional Time Division Multiplexed (TDM) network topologies provided by traditional SONET/SDH networks, CE 2.0 certification provides a ubiquitous and standardized methodology of delivering carrier-class, packet-based services. By achieving 100G certification, the mTera® UTP enhances Coriant's end-to-end portfolio of already certified CE 2.0 solutions including the Coriant® 7100 Packet Optical Transport Platform and Coriant® 7090 Packet Transport Platform.

Optimized for multi-service aggregation applications in metro, regional, and long haul networks, the mTera® UTP is an extremely flexible multi-service transport solution that seamlessly combines packet-based and OTN switching with an advanced ROADM-based optical layer in a single, compact, and power-efficient system architecture. As one of the industry's first MEF-compliant 100G CE 2.0 certified products, the mTera® UTP enables network operators to cost-efficiently deploy a broader range of flexible and scalable packet-based services, while ensuring carrier-grade Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OAM) support and more granular performance monitoring capabilities for enhanced network optimization and service assurance. These packet-based services at 100 Gbps can be cost-effectively added to existing metro networks, while keeping existing services untouched. Service management on the mTera® UTP is provided by the Coriant® Transport Network Management System (TNMS), an end-to-end management platform that simplifies service provisioning and reduces operating expenses.
