When it comes to packing in great amount of value for lesser amount of money, Coolpad is quite well entrenched in the Indian smartphone landscape today. Taking this legacy forward – the company has recently unveiled its latest innovation - the Cool Play 6 some days back in Dubai!

TelecomDrive.com was there to cover this launch and here is our review of Coolpad Cool Play 6.

This is the most impressive smartphone coming from Coolpad so far. The device is available exclusively on Amazon.in at the price of INR 14,999.

Design and Build

Coolpad Cool Play 6 features a metal body at the back for the most part. The back panel of this smartphone is all metal except for the two pieces of plastic at the top and bottom edges of the device, which allow the radio signals to seamlessly pass through. This is giving it a unique design that it quite premium, as a result – it feels great to hold this device. The edges of this phone are rounded, and deliver a better grip on the phone.

The biggest highlight of this phone is its dual 13.0-megapixel camera system, sitting on the back side, dual-cameras are placed stacked one above the other. It is complimented with a dual LED and a dual-tone flash. This smartphone comes with a round fingerprint scanner, which sites comfortably below the camera system.

While reviewing the phone, we realized that this is a very specially built handset – and surely not the type that you can easily part ways with. Its solid built is meant to deliver great looks with performance that can last for long time. All this for an amazing price point of INR 14999, delivers a tempting proposition.

The dual cameras come with an equally compelling piece of 6GB RAM. This is perhaps the only smartphone in this range that is delivering 6GB of RAM with a dual camera system.

Coolpad Cool Play 6 comes with a 5.5” Full HD IPS LCD display. There’s an ambient light sensor on this device. While reviewing this device in the heat of Dubai – this feature became really handy and the sensor worked really well most of the times.

Coolpad Cool Play 6 also offers you to adjust the screen colour to your own choice. There are four screen modes which can be used as per your preference: Normal Mode, Vivid Mode, Natural Mode and Eye Care Mode.

Coolpad Cool Play 6: Say Hello to Dual Camera Era

This is the biggest feature of this phone – the ‘Dual Camera’ system works perfectly well and delivers amazing great photographic experience – which can only be challenged by the bulky DSLRs. As of today – Coolpad Cool Play 6 is one of the few smartphones which are available with dual camera feature at this price range of under 15k.

The perfect performance of dual cameras on this device enables it to capture great images in bright daylight and even in low light conditions. While reviewing this device in and around Dubai – we used it extensively to take pictures, while travelling from sand to sea, from popular city locations such as the tallest building on the globe – the Burj Khalifa to the Jumaira beach.

In our experience, the images shot from this device in bright daylight come out really well. The colours are vivid, natural and images are full of details.

Images shot in low light conditions turn out to be quite sharp as well. The dual LED, dual-tone flash helps, add to the efficiency of the dual camera system.

This can surely be regarded as a future-ready device as it can capture video at 4K resolution, 1080p and 720p. And hence, delivering 4K video at this price point is definitely a big achievement and big plus point for this device.

Coolpad Cool Play 6 comes with Android 7.0 under its new user interface, the ‘Journey UI’. This is also the first smartphone from Coolpad to feature this refreshed UI which is delivering a great user interface.

This device is powered by the Snapdragon 653 octa-core processor and supported by the mega 6GB RAM. This literally means that you can seamlessly expect great experience when it comes to playing games or doing heavy-tasking of multiple apps. While reviewing this device – it has given us no lag in performance, in any way - this is where the 6GB RAM comes into play.

And most importantly, this device comes with a whopping - 4060mAh Li-Ion battery. This is ideal for keeping the phone going for the whole of day’s heavy performance. This can easily translate towards using maps, internet browsing, playing videos, music, and also playing games during the day.
